1. High Notes

  • July 10:  Great meeting and practice! We had 22 singers present -- a new post-pandemic high!
    • Larry Hill, who is the co-chair for the Supreme Directorate of Afterglow, led us back to Abbey Road, where we he had another outstanding social time.
  • Mike Muha has posted our memorization schedule. See https://www.oakcitysound.org/db_uploads/RehearsalSchedule2023.pdf  Let's get on board with this!
  • July 17 (Monday): Regular meeting at our regular time at our regular location: Searstone Retirement Community at 7pm. We will rehearse the following:
    • March of the Wooden Soldiers
    • Prayer of the Children
    • Two Less Lonely ("TLL")
    • Mele Kalikimaka
    • Carol of the Bells
    • Honesty
    • Desperado
    • Here Comes the Sun
  • Total Congratulations to our newest member Mike Carney, who passed his audition last Monday. Mike joins Michael McQueen and David Kraay as great new additions to Oak City Sound, both music-wise and fellowship-wise. We are so happy to have you join us.

2. Carol's Korner

  • Great work on Monday night! The more we sing in phrases and ideas, the better the flow becomes. Enjoy your amazing voices by opening up and letting it out!
  • Keep working on memorization for Honesty and be ready to pull together all the pieces for Two Less Lonely People for our July 17 meeting. You are capable of AMAZING THINGS!

3. Future Notes

  • John Zweighaft invites everyone to attend his church's sight-singing lab this summer. It runs on Tuesday evenings at 7pm, starting Tuesday July 11, for several weeks. Greg Santa Croce, who is the choir director at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, will lead. It’s free. It will include some basics of reading music to train singing music intervals.  It is recommended for both new and experienced singers. Contact John Zweighaft for more information.
  • July 19 (Wednesday): Concession stand in Chapel Hill. Check with Tim Kinsey for details.

4. Long Range

  • Aug 26, Cary Lazy Daze Town Festival. Oak City Sound will be performing on the main stage, as we've done for a few years running. Please mark it on your calendar ... we don't have the detailed performance time or location yet.
  • Aug 28 - Next Oak City Sound guest night, at our regular Monday evening rehearsal time and place.
  • Oct 22, a Sunday afternoon. Oak City Sound in concert at Preston Pointe in Morrisville.
5. Champagne Room
  • Congratulations to Mike Carney for passing his chorus entry auditions into Oak City Sound!
