1. High Notes

  • May 8 : Oak City Sound in concert at The Templeton in Cary
    • Smashing success! We had 18 singers, and we rocked the house. The two quartets performed respectably as well. Thanks to Vern Pike for setting this up, as well as for marshalling us into place at the right time.
    • So glad to have returning guests Mike Carney, Michael McQueen, and Izzy Keefer. Izzy also brought along his dad David Keefer, also, like Izzy, a long-time member of the General Asembly Chorus (OCS's progenitor, known and loved throughout the Triangle) who was visiting this week from Ohio.
    • A remarkable Afterglow was held at the Backstage Pub in the neighborhood of The Templeton . We had 8 people (44%) there, and after a while Izzy Keefer showed up, making 9 (50%) total. We sang 3 songs for the waitress, and the whole house applauded our songs. We actually stayed there like twice as long as at our usual Afterglow. No other chorus I ever heard of gets 50% attendance at Afterglow. We should be proud!
  • May 15 (Monday): Regular meeting at our regular time at our regular location: Searstone Retirement Community at 7pm. Song List:
    • Two Less Lonely People in the World
    • Desperado
    • Honesty
    • Carol of the Bells
    • Songs of Christmas
    • Prayer of the Children (let's see how much we remember)
    • You've Got a Friend in Me
  • May 29: Is Memorial Day. Chapter Cookout at Warren Fuson's house! 8801 Lakewood Dr, Raleigh NC, 27613. Spouses are certainly invited. This is a Pot Luck style event. 2. Carol's Korner

  • Thanks for a great show at The Templeton on Monday! You were very engaging and sounded good, too!
  • Please clean up those spots we covered in rehearsal after the show. It's easy to fall into a re-composing (decomposing) pattern and slowly change the whole complexion of a song.
  • We will be starting on new or archived Christmas songs in June, so dig out your Santa hats.

3. Future Notes

  • June 5: 7:15pm: Concert at Searstone! Please show up at 6:30.

4. Long Range

  • Oct 22, a Sunday afternoon. Oak City Sound in concert at Preston Pointe in Morrisville.
5. Champagne Room
