1. High Notes
- April 15: Great concert at Springmoor last Monday, followed by a good Afterglow at The Hibernian.
- Immediate to-do! Iron that shirt before Friday!
- April 19 to 21: Carolinas District Convention in Pinehurst NC. Quartets will compete on Friday evening. The Mixed and the Men's Choruses will compete, separately, on Saturday!

- Friday:
- NEW: 2:00 to 3:30: If you are arriving on Friday afternoon, there is an additional registration table open at The Hampton Inn. Then check-in to your hotel room.
- Convention Registration will re-open at 5:00pm at the Competition Venue: Pinecrest High School, 250 Voit Gilmore Ln, Southern Pines, NC 28387. It is a 6 minute-drive from the Hampton.
- 6:15pm Quartet Contest Preliminary round at Pinecrest High School,
- Saturday:
- 9:00 am Chorus practice at Pinecrest High.
- Specific room TBD.
- Start with the Mixed Chorus, shift to Men's Chorus at 9:45am.
- Mixed Uniform: Maui Blue Shirt, black pants, black belt, black socks, black shoes
- Men's Chorus Uniform: Same as Mixed uniform, plus Black Jacket.
- Men's Chorus will proceed from rehearsal directly to the pipeline.
- 9:30 - For Saturday arrivers, Registration opens at Pinecrest High.
- Oak City Sound (Men) - 2nd competitor
- Remember, anything can happen, so be flexible as to timetable.
- After rehearsal, we will go directly to the Pipeline. probably around 10:35
- 11:22 am - On stage
- Oak City Sound Mixed Chorus - 11th competitor
- 12:18 pm: Report to check in desk
- 12:58 pm: On stage
- Chorus Evaluation sessions: somewhere between 2:30 and 4:30pm. Schedule TBA. Evals will take place at Pinecrest High. All members should plan on attending the Eval session, as it is a great coaching session from some of the best qualified musicians in the BHS.
- Dinner on your own.
- 6:15pm Quartet Finals back at Pinecrest High.
- After the conclusion of the Quartet Contest, Chapter and Quartet Hospitality Rooms and parties back at the Convention HQ Hotel: Hampton Inn and Suites, 200 Columbus Dr, Aberdeen, NC 28315.
- 9:00 am Chorus practice at Pinecrest High.
- Apr 22 (Monday): Regular weekly meeting, one last time, back at the Music Room of 6000 Building, at our usual times: 6;30 for Mixed Chorus, 7:30 for Men's Chorus.
- We will have another publicity photo shoot, so please wear your uniform again!
- Special Dress Requirement: Please wear your contest uniform:
- Mixed Chorus: Maui Blue Shirt, black pants/socks/shoes.
- Men's Chorus: Mixed uniform plus black jacket.
- We will rehearse our songs for Cary Spring Daze concert.
- April 27 (Saturday): Oak City Sound (both choruses) in concert at Cary Spring Daze, to be held (as usual) at Bond Park. Call time is 10:00AM but plan to arrive at least an hour earlier as the parking situation is always a bear. Our performance venue is the Sertoma Amphitheatre (our usual location). Performance time is 10:45.
- April 29 (Monday): Oak City Sound in concert at The Templeton, 215 Brightmore Dr, Cary, NC 27518.

3. Future Notes
- May 6: First Special Guest night of 2024 for Oak City Sound!
- At our new permanent rehearsal location: Glenaire Auditorium (where we were on April 8): We can all agree that this is a far better location for us than the Music Room of the 6000 Building.
- Who is a special guest? It's the person YOU invite to come and try us out. Start working on your singing acquaintances and persuade them to come and give us a try.
4. Long Range
- For our newer members: We do not take summers off, like lots of musical groups do. Hooray!
- Aug 24 (usually around 11am): Oak City Sound in concert at Cary Lazy Daze town festival in downtown Cary. (not locked in yet).
- An official welcome to Liz Kasberg, Susan Anderson, and Sharon Muha, who received their OCS Member badges on Monday!
