1. High Notes
  • May 12 (Monday): A well-received performance and good rehearsal afterwards. Thanks for your efforts!  
  • Panda Express Success! We raised $139.57 + $40 in additional donations from people who wanted to support us without eating Chinese food.
  • Carolyn Edge emailed her thanks to all OCS singers following her previous Monday night visit: “It was nice to be welcomed and encouraged as a first timer.”
  • May 19 (Monday): PERFORMANCE at Springmoor (1500 Sawmill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615)
    • **SPECIAL OUTFITS** Wear red, white, or blue tops (i.e. American flag colors), usual black bottoms OR….
      • Veterans: Wear your formal dress OR a dark sportcoat with your awards/ribbons/medals pinned to it
    • 6:15p CALL time
    • 7p Performance
    • Short business meeting after
    • Rehearsal after!

2. Overtures
  • Meetup Group – Remember to RSVP for each rehearsal and afterward, RATE us on Meetup. We are listed under Oak City Sound or “Raleigh Area A Cappella Singing Meetup Group.”
  • May 26 (Monday – Memorial Day) – NO REHEARSAL.
  • Any Concert Suggestions? – The more organizational funding we get from group concerts, the less formal fundraising we have to do. Contact our Marketing VP Bob Inskeep with any ideas.

3. Carol's Cadence 
  • Keep getting all of the notes and words locked in for the patriotic songs. This will be a great alternate program that will appear on our schedule again leading into July 4 and possibly for other appropriate occasions.
  • Performance agenda for MONDAY, May 19 will be a little different:
    • Carol - Brief history of Memorial Day & mention of Armed Forces Day
    • The Star-Spangled Banner (National Anthem) – Mixed
    • Battle Hymn of the Republic – Mixed. (Warren narrates)
    • You’re a Grand Old Flag – Mixed. (Eva does voiceover)
    • QUARTET: 7th Dimension – Armed Forces Medley
    • QUARTET: Never Home 4 – Follow the Flag

    • QUARTET: Keytones – God Bless the USA

    • Congregation & Chorus sing (#630) America the Beautiful – words and music will be on a handout for us to use! Feel free to read the music or woodshed harmony.

4. Accelerando
  • JUNE 2Templeton will be our temporary practice facility for the summer! Be sure to park in the deck, NOT the resident spaces. Enter through the front, and turn right find Heater Hall.

  • Nic Col's brain tumor has started to re-grow, and the doctor has suspended the chemo regimen and developed Plan D (A was surgery, B was chemo and radiation, C was monthly chemo). He will be starting chemo pills again. Nic will keep us updated.
